Vol. XVII · Eggs and Dairy Plate 10 of 10drills, review, eggs and dairyHMSTF

Drills: Eggs and Dairy.

Rounds of five questions drawn from every plate of this volume, with the reasoning shown after each answer.

Each round deals five questions at random from the 9 plates before this one — their knowledge checks and their predict-then-check questions — so a second round is not the same as the first. Answer, read why, and deal again until the ideas come without effort.

Below: a round of five. The source of each question is named under its explanation, so a wrong answer points back to the plate that teaches it.

How to use the drills

Treat a wrong answer as a pointer, not a score: the plate it came from is named, and the explanation is short on purpose. Go back to that plate's workshop, change the setting the question was about, and watch the number move. Then come back here and deal again.

Retrieval — answering from memory, then checking — fixes knowledge more firmly than reading the same page twice; the effect is one of the most reliable in the study of learning.

A drill is a way back into the plates: every wrong answer names the plate to reread.
